The shop is now run by Anne, who took over from Roy Porter when he retired in November 2016 after 53 years in the business. Anne's own journey started even earlier: she first came to the shop on work experience at just 14, almost 30 years ago, and has been there ever since.

The shop's pies have become something of a local legend, a reputation that grew further after a well known breakfast show DJ named them among the best pork pies he'd ever tasted. As Anne explains, it all started almost by accident: "We first started making pies after the chip shop across the road asked us if we could supply them. That was about 15 years ago, and it's grown and grown since then."
